Hi all, just wondering from those with experience with B&H in New York City.

Yesterday I ordered a 24-70mmf2.8 finally, after umming and ahhing over it for weeks!!! I just checked the order and it still says it is processing and i haven't received a tracking number for it yet 24 hours later. Does anyone know how long it takes generally for the orders to change from processing to shipped????

I am in Australia and I have not bought anything of this value via the internet before so I am keeping a keen eye on the order. I sent verification of my credit card to them shortly after I recieved my order number.

Just for you info, the cost of this lens is HALF price of what it costs in Australia. This is with shipping included. I am expecting probably another $150 or so in import duty and GST, but am still at least $800 better off than buying the lens here.

Wake up Australia....its a buyers market out there!!!!

Out of 15 or so orders I have had only one take longer than 24 hours process. It might be that with the exception of one order they have all been overnight shipping (I'm someone who can't wait). It might also be that the shipping is within the states.

I have ordered 2 lenses in the past few weeks from them. I got each order in 3 days. Its their standard shipping. They are on the east coast, I am on the west coast.

Yes, I had to do the validation thing....emailed my cc details etc. I guess with it being my first order I would have to wait a few days.

I just hope the exchange rate doesn't change much in the next couple of days :-)

Likewise I am in Australia and ordered same lens from B & H about 6 weeks ago. It took a few days to process & ship the order but the reason for this is they don't seem to accept AU Credit Cards. What I had to do was ring up & order via phone, then wire transfer the $ to their Bank.

Shipping took about 1 week & then a few days to go thru customs etc...

Perhaps the reason why it is "processing" is AU Card?

Ordered a 100-400mm L lens two weeks ago. Got e-mail confirmation immediately and e-mail announcement of shipping in a few days. Lens arrived within a week. I have purchased numerous items from them without any problems. Excellent service. Highly recommended.

I ordered on a 20d with 17-85mm lens on Friday morning 04/08/05.
I called them back Friday afternoon to verify.

I called again on Monday morning because it still said processing, the guy said everything was fine.
The order shipped out Monday night.
Scheduled delivery is this Thursday.

So give it a day, and then call back. I don't know why there is a delay, but it seems there is a day until the order is packed and shipped.
 
I've ordered two things from them, one order was placed on Thursday (3-3-05) and for the other the order was placed on Wednesday (3-16-05)and neither one of them shipped until the next Monday. I chose the standard shipping so I don't know if that played a role in it and I did not bother to check if those were holidays. I reside in Seattle Washington, once the account read processed/shipped on Monday it only took 3 days for the package to get to me. B&H seems very trust worthy and I have NO hesitation about doing business with them, I just keep in mind that if I need something immediately I will just have to go to a local store and pay the extra money but that is the price I pay for not being prepared.
 
I have had similiar experiences lately when ordering from B&H on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday, or Friday. My shipment did not go out until Monday. I used 3-day UPS. It did not matter if I placed the order online or over the phone. I placed two orders over the phone and two online. None of the orders were big money orders and all items were supposedly in stock. I have ordered from B&H in the past with more rapid shipment (same day). I called to inquire why the apparent change and was told that they make sure next day or second day go out the same day but others may take 1-2 days longer. I guess their daily volume for immediate shipments is quite large. This is a slight disappointment given my previous experiences. Now I plan ahead for this schedule. On the other hand, I have received all my shipments intact and without problems.
 
I got confirmation today that the order had been shipped.....I am getting a bit excited now!! Took 2 days to verify. So from a bloke down under I reckon I should be a pretty happy camper in a few days.

P.S, I was in New York City this time last year........I was sooooo excited about being able to visit the biggest camera shop I had ever seen............only to stand there and look thru the window......Closed for passover!!!!!!!! Hehehehe.....Oh Well. Greg.
