Anybody besides me been getting new lenses since acquiring a d2x? I should ask new d2h/s owners the same thing. I had been putting off new nikon glass waiting to see if the d2x would pan out ....

Well since getting the d2x.... add 50 & 85mm 1.4s, and 200 & 70-180 micros. Ugh ... damn expensive hobby :) best, mark

I've purchased a couple since. The Nikon 80-400mm VR and the Sigma 150mm Macro lens. Also purchased the Kenko Pro 1.4 (Digital version) on the internet from Hong Kong. It works great!!! I get focus ok but not VR as was to be expected.

I'm in desperate need of new glass with the D2x. I'm contemplating Nikkor's 12-24, 17-55, and 70-200vr. Will get extender later. Damn this camera is expensive! I've done my research and plan to rent these for a test run before purchasing.

This site talked me into the 17-55 ( thanks site). Now I know why, I think they designed the D2x around the 17-55. I did a shoot yesterday with two lenses, 17-55, and 70-200vr.
Covered my entire range. Nexttime i can leave the bag at home.
The clearity and rangeof this lens has to be seen in person to be believed

I purchased the 12-24 Nikkor when I bought the D2H, and now use it with the D2X. I'd been a die-hard transparency shooter with the F5 until late last year. I'm hanging on to the 28-70 2.8 AFS versus changing to the 17-50 because you KNOW Nikon will come out with a FF camera within a few years (Nikon engineers admit working on one). I did exchange my 80-200 AFS for the 70-200 VR to allow handholding at sports events.

So I would say the only lens I've picked up since the film days is the 12-24. Lovely lens. Good luck!

No new lenses for the D2x. I did buy new lenses when I got the D100, but they are all good for the D2x.

12-24 DX (at least it is wide)
AF-S 17-35mm 2.8 D (replaced a 20-35mm 2.8 D when D100 purchased)
AF 35-70mm 2.8 D (least used lens)
AF Micro 60mm 2.8 D (favorite lens)
ED AF 80-200mm 2.8 D (ancient, but very sharp)

However, the D2x did initiate the purchase of an SD-800 flash, and a number of other accessories.

When my D2x arrives I want to buy:
  • the 12-24 (Nikkor or Tokina)
  • the 17-55
  • maybe the 10.5 Fisheye
  • a couple of SB-800s
Coming from the F100, I do not own a DX lens.

after researching via this forum I added the 17-55/2.8. Love it- together with my old(er) 80-200/2.8 non VR I seem to be able to get most of what I want - 2 lenses - it's great!

I bought a 85/1.8 together with the D2X, will try to get a 200 f2 plus 1.7 teleconverter next,
HSC mode 200mmx1.7x2=680MM at f3.5, that should be an interesting combination.

I pretty much had my basic lenses sorted before I bought my D2x, but the longest lens I have is my 70-200vr. I really need to get something longer than 300mm, and with all the comments and reviews posted, I think the 200-400mm VR will be my next purchase for sure.

Whenever I get a new Camera, I treat myself to accessories which includes lenses. While I got 3 new cf cards and a Coolwalker, when I got the D2X in early March, I haven't decided on a new lens as of yet. I would like to have the 200-400 vr, but with HSC on the 2X my 70-200 VR becomes a 140-400 2.8; so there is no rush yet. But the itch....

All 3 are excellent + lenses. I own them but the midrange I like the best is the Tamron 28-75 2.8. This covers everything very well.

But the 200-400 is an f4, not a 2.8
