Here is where it would be nice to know what lag there is between
the actual scene and what you see in the EVF viewfinder. Assuming
you have a situation where you can pre-focus does the EVF add a
tenth of a second or so to the shutter lag? I don't know how you
measure this (one eye on the viewfinder and the other looking at
the scene?).

Having tried the camera in stores, I can report that the viewfinder appears to be slow-frame-rate video, maybe 15 fps. It takes a noticeable instant to catch up with the world and is jerky as you move the camera. So the answer is yes: the viewfinder is 1/10 second or so late.

It's very bright, and the markings (information reported by the camera) are very sharp and clear and legible. However, like many 35mm cameras, some glasses wearers won't be able to see the whole screen, which was the main reason I went with the S85.

(The first D7 sample I tried was incredibly blurry in the center of the screen yet sharp around the edges. Since Phil's had the opposite problem, they may be having quality control problems with the EVF.)
