Thought I'd have you guys help me out on this dilema...I have a mate who is urging me to move from PC based computers to Mac...I told him I was about to buy a PC notebook before heading overseas to run my mark II and he said this the best opportunity to experience Mac.

I would really appreciate feedback on those who use either systems with their digital cameras in particular the 1DS mark II.

I'm starting to do some research on Macs and need a head start on what's available. And what specs I need to make my work flow with the Mark II work.

Ok lay it on me.

Cheers,

the current tranche of MAC notebooks are severely limited in performance. The G4 is not up there in the processor stakes. The Battery life is OK.

A Decent 2GhZ Mentium M will give you great battery life and very aceptable performance.

If batteries are not an issue, you can sure get a Athlon 64 in a laptop that will "zing" along.

I got the dell xps 3.6 with 2 gigs ram and 7200 hard drive and 256 meg video.

I paid 2000. But I got a killer deal from dell.

Its a great machine but heavy and big.

I would just get the PC laptop. No doubt your friend is happy with
his Mac, I'm sure it's fine ... but the biggest feature of the Mac
is that you get to be different.

Not just another PC Windows user.

Beyond that, there's no major differences. Except that finding
software for Windows is easier. Finding software for a Mac isn't
impossible, but it's easier to find software for a Mac.
