*Show us your sony color!

I'm sure there is some photoshop going on in most of mine (but
halpren, I usually bump the color's up slightly. I almost never
drop them - and most the time they need little to no color
manipulation)........

Only ran through a noise filter and maybe sharpened a little.

All V3 images I think.
Hi, Ian...I was waiting for someone with a V3 to post here. Your colors and clarity are excellent. How lucky you are to have such magnificent subject matter to photograph.

I just purchased a V3 and I sure hope I can someday find exciting subjects as yours, but no likely, so I will enjoy your postings.

I am putting you down on my list of V3 owners. Thanks for sharing.

Michiel...pardon my illiterate question, but I am not familiar with USM.
What does it mean in drawn-out English?

Thanks.

It is the all-known, famous UnSharp Mask :) such a bother to type it fully every time ;) The digital era is making us really lazy :D
Enjoy your weekend Bob! (we've got rain here :( )

Thanks, Michiel. And sorry to bother you on this, but what and how is the unsharp mask used and for what purpose?

Bob

Unsharp Mask is a function to add sharpness to a photo and there are several ways to use it, here's a very good article on USM that you might want to read (and reread 1 or 2 times :D):

http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/understanding-series/understanding-usm.shtml

and here's the use of USM to create more pop in your photo using a local contrast enhancement:
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/contrast-enhancement.shtml

Enjoy!! And don't worry bothering me :D When I have time I'm always happy to oblige in any question!

You need to point out the first picture to the person that started a thread asking why Sony CAN'T show the color purple!

I have always been amazed by sony color. I'm around flowers all the
time, and believe me, I can tell just about what camera was used by
the color of a flower. There is a big difference in many cameras as
we all know. We can keep that secret from the rest of the
world....sony is the best...smile

Okay..you fellas can go back to your talk...

Canon has a slight amount of gray/yellow that renders photos a little off. I noticed it right away just as I did when I bought a fuji, which has even more. It makes for creamier photos, but also can dull them. And when you add yellow to purple it gets a pinkish cast. I just too some comparison photos today. Sony is better at purples that Nikon and Canon. Take a look at the first photo of mine. Even in bright sun, its purple held exactly. That phot is exactly what I was looking at. The canon has a slight pinkish tinge to it especially noticable in paler colors. We discussed this in a garden forum and there is a mix of cameras there. Every canon person said they have to work with their purples/blues and reds to get them accurate. I had NEVER had to make color changes, ever, to get an accurate color on my sony. Nikon is a little closer to true color also. But sony is a little on the bluer side, so their blues and reds are pretty accurate,

I may be the only one who likes this but I feel this is a pretty good use of Sony color.

Hope you like it, too.

Alot of the new people in here are asking the same questions as to
why we own sony cameras. For me, its COLOR CLARITY. It's true
color and exactly what you see, not over processed or over
contrasted.

Pick one or two of your favorite shots that did NOT require much
processing at all. If you have a sony, you know what I mean. Some
of them are striking, right out of the camera!

These two had no processing. The rose no sharpening, or color,
taken in the shade. The clematis, was blown out a tad, it was so
bright out, I darkened the brightness by 2. Thats all! Come on and
post a few! We can slap this link up for newbies with their
questions about sony cameras!

P.S. The above photo of Candi on a Pillow was made with an F828 and a Sunpak 383 bounced off the ceiling.
