I turned my brightness down also. Otherwise it seemed too bright to match prints made on my Epson 2200. I fined tuned the setting to where I could just distinguish the difference between the two darkest patches in the Spyder calibration software. I also adjusted the contrast just to the point where there was a difference between the two whitest patches in the Spyder calibration software. I left my gamma and white points at their native values. I found I got better results by telling the software there were no RGB controls and letting it calibrate from that point. When I tried to go through the routine that assumes you can adjust the RGB controls, the calibration result didn't give as smooth and neutral gray scale.
