I think you've probably answered my question. It is not a well lit venue and I have used a flash. I try to shoot with at least a speed of 1/90. If the player is close enough for the flash to be effective, usually the result is pretty good, but as the subject gets further away, the noise increases. I can cure much of the lighting and some of the noise in ps, but faster lens or slower speed (not a good option) or lower ISO (also not a good option) should improve results. Thanks again.
