I wish I couldn't tell the difference, but as an SD9 owner I suspect that the splotchy yellow noise in the dark areas of b establishes a firm link. The only other explanation I can envision for this would be if the exposure correction you mentioned for the SD10 is in SPP and is an increase in exposure (gaining-up some noise).

a = SD10

b = SD9

When will you be revealing THE TRUTH?
