So Let Me Understand This.......

All the complaints I hear out there are about what? That the G1 is not perfect? Agreed. Show me another camera under $1000 that is perfect. What would you choose, what could you choose?? S75, hmmm..... 128MB memory stick or 512MB CF/1GB MD. Also I find that the cycle time of the camera is extremely slow. You click on the shutter to take a picture, and it just doesn't work, no beeping no indication of why, it just won't take a picture. I used one this week, and got extremely frustrated in a very short time. Not to mention that the focus misses much more often than the G1. From everything I've seen on the D-30, they have come as close to perfection as I've seen yet. But the cost is 4x as much before you even get a lens. Quite a price to pay for perfection(??). Sorry that all of your experience hasn't been rosy, and sure there are things I don't like about my G1. But as it's the 7th Digicam I've owned, there have been things I have hated about each and every one. We have to remember that this is a new technology. But, all the money and research of the camera companies is being put into digital technology right now. Is it perfect, hell no. But, every year it gets better. It usually takes about 20 years for most technologies to mature, Digital imaging has a way to go.

My challenge is this, show me another camera under a $1,000 that has less than 3 flaws with it, and I'll buy it for you.

I am personally sick and tired of dealing with the G1 being out of
focus; of the G1 refusing to cooperate with standard gear or even
Canon's own gear; and of Canon's almost Microsoft-like attitude
against its customers (akin to the attitude of cigarette makers,
who view their customers as property). I've worked quite a lot with
the camera. I am a professional shooter and cinematographer and I
know what I'm doing. I've used Canon gear since the mechanical F-1.
I made web sites and solicited help, spoke to Canon techs on
numerous occasions all over America, and really believed that it
was just a matter of me learning to use the camera adroitly that
would make it as capable as, say, and Argus C-3. But it's not. The
G1 is so full of bugs and dead-ended broken features that my
patience with it is really at an end. Watch for mine (along with a
550EX and a wireless controller) on Ebay or in the Honolulu
newspapers soon. I'm buying something else.
