Stacking step-up rings
I'm thinking about getting a 77mm Canon 500D closeup lens for my 80-200 AF-S. With a 72-77 step-up thread adapter, it will also fit the 72mm threads on my 24-120VR. What about my 50 f1.8? It has 52mm threads, and I noticed there's a 52-72 adapter so I can "stack" it to the 72-77.
The other obvious alternatives - go with a 52-77 converter, or buy a 52mm version of the 500D. The few mm added will act as an tiny extension tube, but other than that is there any downside to stacking the adapters?
