Damn CA, It makes everything purple!

Damn CA! Look what happened when I shot these pretty tulips:

lol ;)
I'd say that is definitely an unacceptable level of purple fringing. If you don't want to return them to the manufacturer, you can perhaps try post-processing them with a can of white paint.

(nice photo, by the way. :)

eg,

I took the Rick's LOL :) to mean that the tulips look that way and it was a joke on the complaints about CA.

I am sorry if my sense of humor wasn't appreciated. Since I read of everyone complaining of CA, I thought I would add a bit of levity. Please forgive the awful pun.

The type of people that complain about the CA on the G1 would complain about flying in a G3 instead on a G4 (private jet). It was a good pun.

Don't subsume people under some silly label. CA is a genuine problem with some of these G1s. I have tried four G1s and two had very bad CA. In spite of the dead pixels, I would have returned them for the CA anyway.

Why should I have to edit pictures for this CA? Why should I accept ruined shots? That's an unnecessary waste of my time and effort. Canon and others have been very greedy in not ensuring the absence of CA. I would not buy an Canon SLR lens which showed CA. Why then is it acceptable in a very expensive digicam?

I got the simple 'joke' at the origin of the thread. It was a lame pun - as the author admits. But that's no problem.
