Snapshots, Lesson #3: Try Hue -3

Lesson #2 was at http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&message=10274823

OK, so this is not really a Lesson per se, but sort of like "breaking news".

Try Hue -3 on your D70 and see if:

1. Colours got better
2. Colours got worse
3. No significant differences in colour

According to Henry Goh at http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1034&message=10292854 , Hue set to negative removes the greenish cast tendency in D70 images.

As for me, I'm liking the images with this setting. I haven't tried printing them out though. Hue -3 seems to work really well even with Auto WB 0, and also produces colours more to my liking with Auto WB -1, -2 or -3. Skin tones look spot-on.

In keeping with the spirit of the first 2 "lessons", you should continue to set EV at +0.3 and Auto WB -2 until you feel comfortable in venturing away from those settings. One indication would be if you finally start feeling that EV +0.3 makes certain scenes too "bright", go ahead and use EV 0 or even EV -0.3 - I'll explain why that happens, hopefully in a future lesson, if time permits.

Looking forward to your findings - I'm in the learning process too.
