Huh? That's what I use for sharpening.

Precisely. Most of us use it as the final step in the workflow to
give it that snap, crackle and pop. I have seen it mentioned
elsewhere as a 'haze filter' as it seems to 'clear the picture'
somewhat.

Like I said, many ways to do the same in PS.
