My understanding (from 2 years ago) was the Tamron 18-200 does not support PDAF, but the Sony 18200LE (which supposedly is the same lens) does after a FW update. The lens needed to be sent back to Sony for the update, But now I suppose they should have the new FW when sold. I also had the...
My early NEX5R had the problem. When back to Sony and the contact assembly was replaced. Never have the problem since.

I have the LE. The LE does have PDAF (Had to send it in to SONY to upgrade firmware to get it--later ones have the new FW). The Tamron version do not have PDAF.

The language option in the US version is in the setup, about halfway down, between the Beep and Date/Time setup options.
I had #1 before, and cleaning the contacts only help for a while, finally had to send the camera to Sony to be fixed.

However, the 18200LE has no problem on the NEX-6. This seem to rule out the 18200LE lens.

I kept 'enable without lens' on my NEX-5N set, and it does go to sleep after the set time. Only "remote" trigger mode prevents the camera from sleeping.
