Canon 20D link here

And here's the quote that makes me believe it....

"The new EOS-20D. The camera you've been waiting for. All the actual specs that are available are from a non-official list found on a thread on DPReview.com"...

No doubt another VERY reliable source... sounds like canon's version of the D2{whatever}...don't hold your breath ;-)
It must be said to day for Nikon to read all this talk about Canon
in this Nikon Forum. But they are the only one producing cameras
for the semi to pro users right now. I am tired as all are hearing
the rummors of the D2x.

Here it is. Look at this link for the Canon 20D.

Thanks for the link. The body looks simple and comfortable and the specs don't look too bad either. Not enough to make me want to change but nice to see some new stuff.

specs look good, but have to wait until it is out and people are shooting and see what i hear before i recommend it to anyone.

i didnt even buy the d100 until december 2003, i am super paranoid about big purchases without lots of research and first hand trusted opinions.
we will see how it is when it hits the market eh?

make your camera work any less than it does now. Really, I dont understand why we would care about what Canon or Fuji does, or anyone except nikon if you are into their system.

I second the Yawn

but if this new Canon will be able to get the focus right sure it looks good because of the 8MP and the price level.

After what they did to cut the DRebel Im wondering what kind of restrictions they invented to make it compete with the 1DII.
maybe some firmware lock or something.

my D100 still takes better photos than I am capable of now, and by the time I get better, the D200 will be out. Dont think I'm gonna sell my 17-55, nifty fifty, 70-300 and 300f4 just to go canon. That, and I'd hate to have to spend most of my time at that forum. Some good folks there, but too many putzes.

I am not sure about this one Backdoctor. I at one point was thinking about a 12-24 and decided to go with the 17-55. I still would like something wider. Now Canon introduces the 10-22USM f3.5-4.5 and bundled with the D20 8mp, 5fps for supposedly around $1400. I already have tripods and printers and flash cards galore and a computer and software and you know the rest. What would I rather have a 12-24mm for almost $1000 or a D20 and 10-20mm bundled for around $1400. I have started my own photography business and it is up and running. I could use a second body and a super wide. All that I would have to buy is a portrait lens and a body plate and I would be ready to go with two bodies and all the lenses that one could possibly choose from. Canon does have a nice line of lenses you know. It is just something that I am considering. Two systems are alright with me but then again I don't know. If one body went bad then that lens system is out of commission. Who knows, just something to consider.

I think the 20D is a good looking little camera but I doubt you'll see it bundled with the 10-22 for $1400. I think the body will go for 1300 initially and maybe 1200 after a time. I expect the 10-22 to be $400+. I don't know if it will have a bundle option although the other new lens will.

right,

going with 2 systems is not a problem at all (I do), but it will be better to wait to see how this camera performs. Canon showed in the past few little tricks to keep cameras from competeing one to another and I wouldn't be surprised to see limitations on this one and hacked firmware later on.

Still the Autofocus is crucial, if the 20D will focus under reasonable tolerances I might consider it, if not I won't.
About going wider, Canon has 1.6 factor...

D100 in NEF is still hard to beat, maybe this 8mp cmos will get closer :)

I'd say the chances are about a million to one against the 10-22 being bundled with this or any other camera. Camera companies don't bundle super-wides, for one thing, and secondly the lens won't be that cheap.

If the 20D really does have a street price in the $1400-1500 range, I'm nearly certain that will be for body only.

I sure hope they change the flash sync speed. It would be nice to go to 1/500. shooting fast action under strobes, 1/200 does not cut it if you are wanting to stop action.

Yup! I'm currently a Canon user and I agree with you. Nikon cameras are the fastest to operate. With Nikons, you operate by instinct! With Canon you get confused and lose the shot. At least the 20D now has a joystick to navigate AF points which is a step in the right direction. But whether you still have to push another button to get it working remains to be seen.

from what I read its all based around a fake page someone put together

http://www.sdcard.be/Nederlands/store/viewitem.asp?idproduct=8979348

that page says 8.2MB in one spot, but a file size of 3072x2048 in another (6MP), and $2300 euro...

I won't believe anything until I see it on the manufacturer's web site or DPReviews news page....
