Fantastic!!! Also very clean for a 30 sec exposure

Splendid image. Thank you for sharing. You Norwegians have the Aurora photography nailed! I've got some images of the lights myself in the US but I'm in north-central Washington state so we'd be crazy lucky to see auroras like that.

I've been trolling this forum (along with a handful of other mirrorless sub-forums) trying to find someone shooting subject matter along the lines of what I shoot so I can get some idea of how these mirrorless cameras perform compared to my clunky Canon 40D that I'd like to replace. For what I'm after, the X-E1 is currently at the top of the heap.

How are you finding the EVF while doing night photography? Are you easily able to focus, frame, and adjust? How is your battery performance when doing long exposures during the cold northern nights?

Thanks, Michael

Hey, I am not Norwegian ;)! Actually almost the opposite, I am Portuguese.

I went to Tromsoe on holidays.

Regarding the battery, I had a spare, but almost always could fit a whole days shooting in one charge.

Regarding focus, you could focus on a strong light source and then switch to MF, or rely on the digital focus scale which I found acceptably accurate (I am not a sharpness nut). In the dark OVFs were equally hard to judge focus.

Alongside the Fuji I was shooting a NEX-5N+CV15 and I have the PP already done to the shots of that camera, see here:

I think you'll find the current sensors in most mirrorless systems more than capable compared to your 40D.

It is all about the glass, though!

Fantastic, thanks for posting.
