Hi,

I just picked up my C2100 this afternoon. I would like to know if there are
already "impressions" with it ?

Best regards,

Andreas

I am also considering buying one, have you taken any photos yet? I would love to
have some samples of close range. I would like to compare the quality to the
2020. Can't wait until I get mine...
I will also purchse the B-300 and the B-28 that are supposed to work with the
2100 according to Olympus

Michael

Michael, where did you get yours? Mine's on order from Ritz, but they say it won't ship until Oct. 13. If I can find one now, I'll cancel the order and pick one up.

Thanks,

Dave

I'd be real interested in seeing a couple of shots of the same subject at 7mm and at 70mm.

Thanks,
Larry

Check out: http://www.steves-digicams.com/c2100.html
I've seen Steves samples. Many of the pictures exhibit serious fringing.
Add to that...

Olympus C-2100UZ Sneak Samples

Ok, not the best shots in the world but in the limited conditions they at least give a taste of what's to come... Remember, this was an engineering sample camera and as such production quality should be different. Phil says: Noticeable chromatic aberrations.

...and I"ve got some concerns.

I'd like to see if the chromatic aberration problem was a pre-production or pre-release isssue that's been fixed. I hope so, because I want that lense!

Larry

Michael,

Until now i haven't taken a lot of photos. I have the B-300 too. Well, they are
working together but...

You could start with your own impressions :)
Well,

Here is one (after reading the review of the CD1000 here on this site i am glad that the C2100 is not alone). It suffers from significant chromatic abberation especially at full zoom. I am looking very forward to the review of the C2100 here on this site (if there will be one).

The reason for me to add the C2100 to my cam collection was the 10x stabilized lens. As i have read here before, you get what you paid for. So it is a
compromise.

Best regards,

Andreas

Andreas, Where did you purchase your 2100?
In germany.
Could you please, please, please, etc. tell me where and at what price in Germany? :o) I saw an online shop pricing them at 1100DM, can you do better?

I myself live in Belgium and am desperate to find a cheaper deal then current: import-firm says 59.990BF (2.900DM or $1300) and cheapest retailer to date is 57.500BF (2.800DM or $1250), quite alot more expensive than in the USA for example (where I've seen deals of $950 and less) :-(

I presume the warranty in Germany and Belgium are the same, let's hope the manual will not only be in German though :-)

TIA !

Chris,

I bought mine in Mainz (near Frankfurt) at "Mediamarkt". It is a chain so if
you are located in Belgium you should take a look in Aachen or Cologne.

http://www.mediamarkt.de (maybe you find there a location)-

This was definately a typing error! (1100DM are around 500 USD)

I paid 2499 DM for it.

English/French/Spanish/German.

Right, I meant 3100DM actually :-/
I paid 2499 DM for it.
And after finding http://www.digitalkamera.de/ it listed all dealers in Germany, one of them was VERY cheap: http://www.new-digicam.de/ which offers the 2100UZ at a very reasonable 2360DM ! Any (bad) experiences with this shop, otherwise I'm thinking about buying it there?

English/French/Spanish/German.
Great! Then I can practice my Spanish too! :o)

Kind regards,
Chris.

Andreas,

There is a full review at Steves Digicams. See:

http://www.steves-digicams.com/c2100.html

I applied the new Qimage fringe filter to the image of the balcony that you posted on Zing. It improved the fringing quite a bit. Not 100%, but the picture is much more acceptable after applying the filter.
