I have had my eye on this scene I pass on the way to work for a while...Well today I finally decided to shoot it on my lunch break cause it warmed up a bit and there was a little color in the sky...

Well, the only way I could get this view was to walk very carefully to the end of one of these thin wobbly snow covered boat piers...

I'm glad I didn't lose my balance and end up in the creek with my C3000...I don't know if this shot was worth it, I had to crop quite a bit losing some resolution and the pier was wobbling pretty good...maybe next time I'll use the Uzi for the zoom and IS...all things considered I still like the photo...

Sigh ...the things we do for a shot...Anyone else do any thing not so bright just to get a half way decent photo?

Fall in the water at that temp. and you're a dead man quick.

Glad you made it out alive. C-3000 aside, that water looks cold, who knows what could have happened to you. Ya, I stopped on a bridge once got out the car and took some shots as cars flew by me. Silly move.

Shoot more barns. Never heard of anyone getting hurt or loosing a camera while photographing a barn.

Good shot, Bob! The UZI might have been a little sharper on that wobbly dock, but it's nice nevertheless! Just keep the camera out of the water!!

I guess we all lose a bit of sense when we see a shot we just have to have!! I try to be sensible but I have been places to take a picture that I wouldn't have thought about going unless well-armed with the UZI! ;)

I don't think it was worth this photo :-(

Let me tell you what happen to me yesterday while looking for rural scenes to photograph. I was driving up a steep back road that had no winter maintenance. I started spinning, the road was solid ice from packed snow freezing and thawing. Backing up was hazardous also, car started to go sideways the only level place was a railroad crossing, I backed off the road onto the tracks to try and turn around before the road got even steeper. I got stuck on the tracks with my car now parallel to and on the tracks.

My luck started to get better when a truck spreading ashes came down the road, the guy got out and help push me off the tracks and then told me I had no business being on this road in these conditions,he spread the ashes on down the steeped part for me and I backed on down the road about 1/2 a mile an hour safely. Don't know what would have happened if he had not come a long.I was sweating bullets throughout most of this ordeal.
I'm cutting back on cruising the back roads under these conditions.

Thanks Jackaroo...

Glad you like it, I consider it a compliment if you have it as your wallpaper...

I'll stay crazy but maybe just be a little smarter next time...

Dave, the water wasn't that deep but I certainly would not to end up in it...

As far as snow goes, that's all we have for the next 4 months...:> (

When are you coming up this way?

Yea, sometimes we do stupid things for a shot...

I dunno about that, I heard Ergo got raped by a sheep once while on a farm taking barn shots... ;> )

Where is Ergo?

Glen, that is mostly true, unless you happen to lean your arm on
the fence for support without noticing the orange plastic
insulators down at the fence post! Don't ask me how I know that!!!

Ouch!

And then there's the mad bulls to watch out for...or glad sheep in Ergos case...hehe..

Sure it was worth it you fool. Musta been fun with no rails to
grab, just in case, you know. Looks kinda like some of the Bayou
country just south of here, without the snow of course.
Smoke, I was just wondering where ya been...how's things down by you? Haven't heard from you in a bit...

By the way, those Cokin filters are working great on my E-10...thanks once again...I usually carry the C3000 in my winter jacket pocket for every day coming and going unless I'm going out on a shoot...

Glad to see your still around...

I've been doing fine. Busy most of the time but no job yet. It's been wet and a bit cold down here recently. Haven't done any picture taking lately. I have been eyeballing the E-10 with the prices comming way down. Many of the things I read say the E-10 is a much better value than an E-20 and that the improvements weren't well done for the E-20. Glad you're getting some use out of the filters. I got a couple more for my E-100 and seldom use any but the UV and polarizer. I may try to do some weddings and such starting in the spring and do them cheap enough so as to be a second photographer or a low budget one for them. I was thinking to setup a laptop and show a slideshow of the ceremony at the reception and give them their pictures burned onto a CD at the end. If they want prints, they can place an order and I'll have them professionally printed for them. I think the E-10 in conjunction with my E-100 would work fine for this. Maybe I could make enough to pay for them that way.
Wondered where the E-10 was when you said you used a C-3000.
