Taken on Sunday at Dunsfold, I know they are not like Trevor would take, but I was quite pleased with them, C & C always welcome! Although a few were taken with the FZ18, most are with the FZ50 which is MUCH better for this type of shot!!!

The Blades

Battle of Britain Memorial Flight DC3, Hurrican & Spitfire

Eurofighter Typhoon. The sound of this is awesome!!

Red Arrows

Guinot Wing Walkers

Incredible shots to someone, like me, who cannot capture a cardinal coming into for a landing at the base of a birdfeeder....

Looks as though it was a great show.

One problem -- the Blades are just out of sync. Either the top two have their propellers at the correct angle, or the bottom two, but you'd think all four would be locked in at the same angle... ... just kidding...

There are no real negatives in digital photography.

Fujifilm One Four Zero Zero Zoom, circa 2000
Kodak Dee Ex 7630, circa 2003
Panasonic Eff Zee 18, circa 2008

Hi,

Good images!

Why is the FZ-50 much better for this type of shot than the FZ-18?

Richard, with the manual zoom ring on the FZ50 you can find the aircraft with the zoom out then zoom in to take the shot, with the electronic zoom on the FZ18 you find it very difficult to locate the plans with it zoomed in and it is not fast enough to change the zoom while trying to follow the aircraft.
Hope that makes sense.

All excellent! The first, for it's pleasing colour, and also the well timed capture of the jets flaring with the coloured smoke are my favorites. Great set!

I hope Trevor comes along with a few too. He seems scarce lately and I miss his good eye, timing, and opinions!

Great job of capturing fast moving subjects Heather. #1 is exquisite and my next two favorites are #5 and #6.

And thanks for leaving the exif info with your photos so we can learn!

Hi Heather, very nice set from the air show. My favorite is the first one of the 4 blue plane - very soothing and appealing pic.

cheers

The # 5 Red Arrows are Tigers compared to the # 1 Blue Pussy Cats, which is a good picture, but for feeling the power of an air show, those Red Arrows sure displayed it.

The "exploding" formation is just wonderful. How did you do it? Were you in "Burst" mode? Great timing and my favorite.

Now, which "Wing Walker" girl were you? You must be on the top bi-plane because she seems to be taking pictures.

I cannot understand how you can take pictures of the tops of the Blue planes' wings from the ground? Guess it is some kind of optical illusion to me...

One more question - why are there so many air shows over there? A reminder to not start another war?

Thanks again, Heather, for another lesson,

OK Dave (FZ50)

Don't be so humble Heather, they are excellent. The light looks really good, thje advantage of a north facing crowdline. I am really impressed with that BBMF picture it can be really difficult to capture the dynamic range well. They are back with the Lancaster today which always appears as a dark blob. The Typhoon with afterburners makes a great subject doesn't it providing you can keep still while your eardrums are being destroyed. Now who said the FZ50 couldn't do airshows.
