Any number of great little 35mm film cameras were primes. I still have and use the Olympus Stylus Epic with a very nice f2.8 35mm lens. I say still use, but I do think it is about to be retired!

Never heard about P&S cameras without zoom ;( It's so stupid
No, but it would be great on the (nearly) APS-C Foveon sensor on this cameraWell, a fast lens on a GR-sized sensor isn't very meaningful.Nearly. No fast lens, no optical VF. Shame.Wow, is this the true digital Ricoh GR, that Ricoh did not build!?
But I still want one![]()
Who could resist? It looks lvery like a camera I've been waiting a long time for but nobody got around to making. But like you, I want one too![]()
Well if you make some special pancake lenses for the thing ...and thereby make it the size of a brickAnd, of course, I'd rather they just did away with the lens and had
a Sigma DSLR lens mount on the danged thing. That'd pretty much do
it for me - especially if they also included a high magnification
focus check mode.
Lets hope the lens matches.it must look amazing. have seen prints of sd-14. since its the same
chip....
--Looks like a zoom to me. The diameter is to large for just a normal
lens, as you can see it looks the the center section moves in and
out.

I agree. With a single focal length lens, putting in a simple optical viewfinder should be no problem and certainly would be useful - for instance when sitting in darkened audiences as well. But frankly, the camera looks a lot like a mockup. So maybe that will get added.A fixed FOV camera is the perfect opportunity to put in a decent
OVF. You only have to design for a single FOV. Center it over the
lens and you only have vertical parallax to worry about and you
could have VERY accurate horizontal framing.
Where on earth are you guys getting the idea this is the same sensor used on the SD14... to me it's a very small sensor with the same about of photosites, probably same technology as the Polaroidx..On the other hand with the same SD-14 sensor, it makes some digital
zoomign (cropping) more practical.

It is a matter of style I assume. There are some benefits to the "tiny bit of optics" though. It is faster to follow something that moves. It helps you to hold the camera steady. It is visible even in the brightest sunshine. It helps me to concentrate on the task.Yes I have used a Leica. But I still see no point in looking
through a small tiny bit of optic that has no relation to what the
camera itself is seeing, whcih is what you would get if Sigma
attached a viewfinder to this camera. For small digital P&S
cameras I greatly prefer the LCD preivew.
ohh nooo, no more fu* ing zoom!I wish it had at least a 2X zoom though.
hey boy, you have to learn a lot!Never heard about P&S cameras without zoom ;( It's so stupid

regards,
I believe they have their information mixed up. That lens cannot have an image circle that would work on APS sized sensor that close up and that small... no way.It says so here.Where on earth are you guys getting the idea this is the sameOn the other hand with the same SD-14 sensor, it makes some digital

Die neue Sigma DP1 Kompakt-Digital Kamera ist mit dem
einzigartigen, bahnbrechenden 14 Megapixel FOVEON X3
Direktbildsensor (2652×1768×3 Schichten) ausgestattet, der
ebenfalls in der Sigma SD14 Digital-SLR verwendet wird.

It also clearly says "Sigma Lens 16.8 1:4"Looks like a zoom to me. The diameter is to large for just a normal
