I ordered 2 Sandisk Memory sticks from Buy.Com's special (With coupon of course) and received them today.. I ordered them Tuesday, overnight shipping, and received them today..

For those wondering, they are physically IDENTICAL to my Sony 128 meg stick.. Even the box is identical.. they are obviously all made by the same company. The only difference is that Sandisk is printed on the memory stick itself, and the label inside the box says Sandisk obviously..

Functionally, they are the same.. It takes the exact same time to format or copy files...

103 + 83 = $196? You lucky dog. I got two Lexar MS from goodguys.com for $109 each ($220) - should arrive today (according to UPS)

Before buying a collection of memory sticks you all may want to check out a digital wallet from http://www.mindsatwork.net -- you'll need the PCMCIA card reader to plug the MS into, but the stoage capacity is awesome.

Latest prices I saw were 3Gb - $169, 10Gb - $289, 20Gb - 359

Best of luck,

Chrys

Arvin,

Just to make things worse for you :-) , I got two 128MB Sandisk memory sticks for $78.95 * 2 = 157.90 after Sandisk Rebates, Buy.com rebates and Buy.com free shipping.

I was going to buy the Sony one for $129 each, but luckily just browsed around and saw this deal.

The SanDisk rebate only works for one stick, what was the buy.com rebate?

I'm going this way myself... I've got 64mb and 16mb memory sticks and was going to buy a 128, but I'm just going to hold off and get a digital wallet.

I got an email tuesday stating my 128MB stick had shipped from them too. I chose regular delivery so have to wait a little longer. Be nice having the extra capacity.

Yea, I figured that with 128MB I won't have to switch and upload to the wallet constantly. Now I can switch the memory sticks quickly and load into my wallet at my convenience. (of course, that IF/WHEN I get the wallet!). $40 more for the adapter... hmmm... I think I just see how fast I use up the two 128 MS's and maybe get the digital wallet in 6 mo. - probably will be bigger, faster, and cheaper by then.

99% of my buy.com orders arrive overnight for ground prices. Just the odd shipment from IL or TX that throws a wrench into things.

There has to be ONE good thing about living in CA!

Tracey

PS - i didn't order a MS though, i have 2 128's and haven't needed a 3rd yet. Plus i have a DW.... plus i got that job at Best BUy .....

Ah... it's ok, I just received two Lexar 128 for $220 total. No close as good as 103 + 103 - 20 - 10 = 176... but I'll survive. At the time I ordered the stuff (on Sunday) buy.com was still out of stock and so I don't feel so bad about it... can't cry over a measly $50... especially considering how much I spent overall... I did get the 707 for $899 - with a $80 gift card I had it was $829.

No the 10 off 100 coupon, here's the link:

http://www.us.buy.com/retail/coupon.asp?prid=81566572

you need to hurry, the sandisk rebate expires tomorrow. You need
to buy it by the 30th and postmark the rebate by 12/31/01

No more Sandisk 128s at Best Buy... and I'm not sure that Sandisk will honor a back order for their rebate... and the $10 discount doesn't apply for items that are out of stock...

SO... I'm gonna pass for now...

That's true. But in 6 mo. the 256MB and 512MB memory sticks will be out and the 128MB sticks will probably cost ~$30. Well, maybe not that cheap. Just can't keep up with technology. :) I like the idea of the digital wallet but don't want to carry all that around. These memory sticks are soooo small. Guess that's part of what we're paying for.

Yea, but a I doubt that a 512 MB memory stick will be cheaper than a 3 GB digital wallet type deal in 3 months. Plus, with two stick of 128, you can load on while shooting with the other. Transfer speeds become less of a problem - of course, in 6 month, the next camera might need 10 megs a JPEG or something.

As for size, true... it isn't a small as a memory stick. But I don't find the fact the memory stick as being smaller very useful... like my pocket for flash memory will hold 3 CF/MF cards as easily as 3 MS. Digital wallet is convenient, and it still would probably fit in a backpack/camera bag - more so than a laptop. Plus you can use the digital wallet for other purposes (yes, yes, you can use the MS for other things too...)
