Wow so quick1 I thought the F10 was supposed to be released in April.

I am torn between deciding the F10 and F810. Cyberguy could you update us regarding the sharpness of the LCD screen. I am a bit worried because for 2.5" screen it has only 115 000 pixels where as the F810 has 170 000.

So far I have been impressed with the F10 photo quality seeing all those sample images.

Sanjay

as you also own the F810, how does the quality compares to it?

ie : Have they done anything about the over contrastiness in the 810, How is the DR comapare,Does the F10 LCD usefull in the dark? How does noise compares with eF810 at iso 80.

I do like the lens range in the 810 but not the 3 sec max ,low batterry life and no fine option at 6 meg pix.I don't mind there is no raw in F10,but worry about the low res LCD.

I want to replace my S5000 with either the F810 or F10 not sure still as a pocket camera and a DSLR in near future,my bet is with Oly E300

I hope you aren't just pulling our collective leg. Some of us are extremely interested in the F10 and that would just be cruel. Anyway, please let us know how you came to aquire it when it isn't supposed to be released until April - inquiring minds need to know! Thanks in advance for any info.

No, Not pulling your leg...got it straight from Japan! The pic's are positively stunning right out of the camera! Viewed at 100% blows anything I've seen out of Fuji so far (cept the S3 :) ). The cameras LCD is not high res and is the most disappointing thing on the cam. It does rev up when you hit the shutter button for a bright view in the sun. You cannot judge the exposure though due to it's high contrast. There is no shutter lag! What you see is what you get! I miss a histogram and preview mode. I am sure the f910 will have these. There is no soft sharpness setting. It is basically a point and shoot with a couple of over rides. The camera feels good in the hand. It is very quick and responsive! The 400asa and 800 ASA shoots are fantastic. The 1600 is still noisy but very acceptable.

I am impressed with the noise reduction. A nice mix of smoothing and detail. You will be amazed at the quality! The colors are deffinately Fuji! They are not flat and off like the f810. I sold my f810 and I am glad I did! This little jewel is a keeper!

I will keep you posted on my further observations.

Glad to hear that Jim, Dissapointed regarding the LCD, and no histogram(even in playback?) Does it have aperture, shutter priority and full manual selection?

nice to hear about the pics quality. No problem with no soft sharpening as the default sharpeness setting seems fine(no artefacts at all, unlike my S5000) and responds well to USM

What impresses me about the high iso pics are the noise is very low for a non dslr and at the same time there are no smearing NR present, which is a clear departure from the S5000/7000 saga.

Does it really bothers you about the low res LCD.What do you mean by the colors are better than the 810?were you refering to the very contrasty images from 810? The only thing put me off the 810 so far is the dismal battery consumtion.

Thanks for sharing.

Sanjay

Could you give us a subjective evaluation regarding the LCD sharpeness when compared to the S7000/20. and does the LCD has auto rotate feature for portraits?

How fast is the flash recycling time.It was the achiles heel for the E550/F810 in their otherwise excellent shooting speed

thanks again,

Sanjay

Hi Sanjay,
I know that there is a difference in color balance from camera to camera even in the same model. My f810 had very bland, off, contrasty pictures which I found very difficult to correct properly. I am not sold on the shape of the f700-f810 cameras. I actually like the vertical or squarish cameras better.
Will post when I have some time...at work now!

Haven't shot flash yet.....don't need to :). I will try tonite. It does not auto-rotate. LCD is very contrasty. You might think highlights are blown...but they are not.

I'd be keenly interested in how it does in evening room shots without a flash.

Is it a viable DSLR alternative for casual shooters who are tired of being told "ya gotta buy a DSLR to shoot ISO1600".

Hey, I am curious as anyone about this camera, but it's not like he is under ANY obligation to do anything. We should be greatful and thankful to hiim for whatever information he provides. He has a life too, I am sure. Let's all exercise restraint and patience. Didn't your mother tell you that you catch more flies with hunny than vinegar?
or should we wait for a few more weeks?
give the poor man a good night's sleep,so he could have a relaxed
weekend doing all kind of testing for us.It's early morning in the
US of A
