Video Field Test: Theron Humphrey and the Sony A7R II

20:20 vision: Hands-on with Sigma's 20mm F1.4 'Art'

Sigma has grown its 'Art' lineup of prime lenses again, with a new 20mm F1.4 for Canon, Nikon and Sigma mounts. The new 20mm F1.4 DG HSM | Art  is designed for full frame DSLRs, and Sigma claims that the 20mm F1.4 is the result of new production technologies including a 59mm double aspherical element. Originally announced last September, Leica's medium format S camera presents a number of key changes that bring it up to date with the latest models from its main competitors. Although the S Type 007 retains the same pixel-count as the previous Type 006, the company has switched from its traditional CCD sensor to a CMOS unit. Sony Alpha 7R II: Real-world ISO invariance study

The recently announced Sony Alpha 7R II packs a lot of groundbreaking features, and one of its highlights is the new full-frame 42.4MP BSI-CMOS sensor. iFixit tears down Sony's new a7R II to find its secrets

Earlier this week we took you 'under the hood' of the Sony a7R II, metaphorically. Now, thanks to our friends at iFixit, it's possible to take a literal look inside the a7R II. Ifixit took delivery of a production sample a7R II at around the same time as we did, but while we were out testing its AF system and checking to see how its sensor measures up, the hard-working crew at iFixit were busy taking it to pieces. Show off: Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II slow-motion and 4K video samples

The Sony Cyber-shot RX10 II offers some impressive video capture capabilities including the option to record in 4K. And like the RX100 IV, the RX10 II can capture slow motion video at 240, 480 or 960fps, the latter of which gives the equivalent of 40x super slow motion. Read more

Slow-motion video samples from the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV

What's more fun than fireworks on the Fourth of July? Fireworks at 960 fps. We grabbed a few slow-motion clips recently with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV to test out its slow-mo video modes. #1 in France: Hands-on with DxO ONE

The DxO ONE is a 20MP camera with a 32mm equivalent F1.8 lens, which is designed to be used in combination with an Apple iPhone. As well as being DxO's first foray into photographic hardware, it's also - arguably - the first truly 'connected' camera, being designed to physically connect with a smartphone, rather than relying on a wireless connection. Panasonic 4K Photo reaches to grab stills-from-video dream

Using a video feed to capture stills isn't a new idea - Nikon's first electronic camera, the QV-1000C, did it in the late 1980s - but the resolution of 4K makes it more useful. Panasonic has recognized this way of working and has introduced 4K Photo mode to its 4K cameras, to make things easier for the user. We took the feature for a test drive. Read more

Sony has released updates to its popular RX-series compact cameras, leaving the externals pretty much unchanged, but with a major update to their sensors. Mono a mono: Leica M Monochrom (Typ 246) hands-on

Leica's new Monochrom M camera brings the black-and-white-only concept up to date with the technological advantages of the latest M (Typ 240) and M-P cameras. The main changes are a switch from CCD to CMOS sensors, and thus the introduction of live view and a jump to 24MP, along with a much better rear screen. We went hands-on with the new black-and-white beauty. Hands-on with new Olympus PRO 8mm and 7-14mm lenses

They've been on Olympus's roadmap for a while, but today the company officially announced two new wideangle 'Pro' lenses - the M.ZUIKO Digital ED 7-14mm f2.8 PRO and M.ZUIKO Digital ED 8mm Fisheye PRO. The 8mm fisheye is equivalent to a 16mm, while the 7-14mm covers an equivalent focal length range of 14-28mm. Both lenses are weather-sealed and are clearly intended for use with the company's high-end OM-D cameras. Click through for a closer look

Field Test: Sigma 19mm, 30mm and 60mm F2.8 DN lenses

Sigma's 19mm F2.8 DN, 30mm F2.8 DN and 60mm F2.8 DN Art lenses were launched at the CP+ show in Yokohama way back in January 2013. We've been using these inexpensive primes on both Sony E-mount and Micro Four Thirds cameras for a while now, and our man in London, Damien Demolder has written up his impressions. Making 'Art': We go inside Sigma's lens factory

On our recent visit to Japan to attend the CP+ show in Yokohama we were fortunate to be invited to tour Sigma's factory in Aizu. The Aizu factory is where all of Sigma's lenses are manufactured, including the company's impressive new 'Art' line of primes. Prepare to be impressed: Tamron 15-30 F2.8 vs. Nikon 14-24 F2.8

While we were at CP+ 2015 in Japan, we met with Tamron, and the company was kind enough to lend us their newly announced 15-30mm F2.8 Di VC USD. In Nikon mount, no less. It's a wide range for a full-frame zoom, made more impressive by the inclusion of vibration compensation (VC). With a price tag of $1200, Tamron is taking the Nikon 14-24 head-on, and so we decided to do the same: pit the two against one another in a shootout, which you can view here

Nikon's new D7200 is an evolutionary upgrade to the D7100, and fixes one of the few major complaints about that model with an increased buffer depth. Other improvements are more subtle, but the addition of -3EV sensitivity to the D7200's 51-point AF array will please low-light photographers. There's also Wi-Fi with NFC, 1080/60p video, and improved battery life. Click through for some hands-on images

We were intrigued by Tamron's stabilized SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD when we first saw it in prototype form at Photokina in September last year. Budget X: Hands-on with Fujifilm's new X-A2

Fujifilm has announced the X-A2, a new version of its X-A1 budget X-series mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, which incorporates mostly minor changes compared to its predecessor. Like the X-A1, the X-A2 uses a conventional Bayer-pattern CMOS sensor and offers virtually identical ergonomics but now comes with an LCD screen which tilts upwards to 175-degrees for selfies.
