Processing rules:

No composites please.
Cropping is OK, but do not cut out / replace the background.
Filters are allowed as long as the other rules are respected

Capture date rules:

No restrictions.

Only entrants who have won at least one photo challenge in Dpreview.com can enter.
I might consider allowing entries from beginner participants if their shot are on par with the rest of the entries.
The total entry limit is now set at 75, might slightly increase the limit if this challenge is well received.
Do not submit shots used in previously completed DPReview.com challenges.
No political statements please, any photos with the slightest hint of controversial statement or message will be removed without any notice.
Shots I find offensive might be removed.
Make sure the entries look good and tasteful (at least you must find your own shot tasteful).
Complaints might not be entertained after the voting has ended.

Love it! Really smart use of the water to create white space in the black background, along with the constraint of colors limited by the red and green pepper with the blue running through the water. I'm impressed by how frozen the action is at 1/125. The fractals in the water make it look like ice, and there's something really interesting happening with the green trail of the stem reflecting back up through the wake it's left as it's descended. Curious to know if the pepper was dropped or extra force was added, how many shots you took to get this, and any other tips you'd care to share. Great photo!

Thank you for your kind comments, the action was frozen, not by the shutter speed but by the flash!
This was a small fish tank on a table in my garage and in the dark, the off-camera flash on a light stand off to the side.
The pepper was simply dropped, but at exactly the same place (the pre focussed place) each time.
As for how many shots I took to get this - upwards of about 60 as I recall!
I got an assistant to drop the item as I opened the shutter, after which I manually fired the off-camera flash as the pepper 'landed'

I attempted many different speeds (a lot of them were taken on bulb) and many many attempts to get my timing right with the flash.
I ended up with plenty of shots of an empty tank (before it fell) and others of a slightly disturbed tank with a 'dead' pepper lying on the bottom!
I cannot tell you the actual positioning of the flash as I tried it in many different places throughout the duration of the shoot and have no idea at what position it was when the best one (this one) was shot.
