Naturally Smooth

Challenge #83 in the Life in the Natural World series. Hosted by RuthC.
Challenge has finished
In this challenge, show us examples of smoothness in nature, perhaps a flower petal, a leaf, nuts or seed pods, the hard, shiny exoskeleton of a beetle, a pebble at the beach... The subject should appear to be smooth relative to its environment. (Water-worn rocks in a riverbed or beneath a waterfall are acceptable, though we know that up close they are quite rough). Macro and close-ups welcome. Where possible, the subject should be outside in the natural environment. SIZE: 1,600px MAXIMUM ON LONGER SIDE.

Spawning almost until drowning! It's quite a commotion when the European Common Frogs (Rana temporaria) are mating, having their peak activity from around noon to 3 PM, when their quacks and croaking can be heard hundreds of meters away from the ponds.
