Taking macro shots with a lens with a minimum focus distance of roughly a meter, definitely not optimal. The only way I could get in close was to zoom out completely, and still I think I might have trampled some flowers. Otherwise I love this lens, as it lets me take shots of animals that would be scared off by my approach (I had great ones of tucans, monkeys and even an agouti on this trip to Costa Rica). I got a 45mm 1.8 for xmas...too bad this was early Dec!
