'Wheels' describes any wheeled vehicle including bi- or tri-cycles, skates, scooters, motorcycles, automobiles, etc. 'First' describes a situation in which a person is the process of mastering or has just mastered the operation of the wheels. A classic depiction of what I have in mind is a child learning to operate (ride) a bicycle. However, the subject does not have to be young. Some people learn to operate wheels later in life. ENTRANTS, please read 'Additional Rules'; VOTERS should open each submission and read any comments. Judgment should be based on the moment captured and its significance to the operator as much as any technical perfection of the image itself.

This is a picture of me with my 1932 Ford, 5-window hot rod coupe, taken somewhere around 1966-67. Believe it or not, this is my first "car". When I was about 18 years old, I was a real hot rod nut. I dreamed of owning such a machine and saved for 3 years until I had enough money to buy this from the previous owner. It had a 1964 327 Corvette engine that SCREAMED fast! Trouble was, it took all my earnings to keep it running - and I couldn't really leave it alone anywhere I went. After about 3 years, I finally had enough and decided to sell it. I wish I could have kept it somehow. It would probably be worth a fortune today. This digital scan is a repair of an old damaged photo, and is the best I can do. I still have dreams about this car, and my photo is the only lasting remembrance I have left of this amazing hot rod.
