long with its bigger brother the EXakta, the German made Ihagee Exa was one of the first 35mm film SLR cameras introduced in 1936. It was made in Dresden and produced up to the early 1960's by the East German company Pentacon who took over Ihagee in the 1950's. My late father most probably bought this camera in 1955-56 while he was finishing his master's degree at the University of California in Berkley. This old camera was used to take almost all our family photos during my childhood in the 1960's up to the 1980's. The last time II used it was in the early 1990's after my father's death. It became lost and was found recently in his old filing cabinet, damaged by flood. I am still hoping this camera can be repaired and restored because of its historical and sentimental value.
