A survivor of both historical hurricanes that flooded the island: 1900 "Isaac's Storm" and 2008 Hurricane "Ike." Ironically, Ike is often used as a nickname for Isaac - "Isaac's Storm" was so named after the fact, not in a naming convention as today but rather to recognize Isaac Monroe Cline, the chief meteorologist in Galveston during the storm and his role in forecasting it.
