We had gone to the lighthouse to watch the whales. An annual migration for all of us. We usually wait until we know there are so many going by that we'll see some. We saw lots. But just as we were counting spouts and pointing to pods coming through, this Coast Guard plane flew right over us. It followed the coast, like the whales only in reverse, so it came right to the point of Point Reyes at the lighthouse, then turned in towards Chimney Rock. It felt like a big harmonic convergence of migrations. Ours. The whales. And the Coast Guard pilot.
