Challenge has finished
There are many companies that have produced motorized vehicles, many of which are no longer with us. Brands such as Oldsmobile, Isetta, De Tomaso and others have made much loved machines, but they just haven't been able to stick around into the 21rst Century. This challenge is to show your best photo of a vehicle whose maker no longer exists. Please tell us who made the vehicle, when and where and a model name if you know it, in the notes when you post the photo. Any photo which doesn't have that information risks being disqualified.

The Black Shadow was an unusual (even unique design). The engine was an integral part of the frame/chassis. The oil tank was bolted to the top of the engine, the front suspension attached to the oil tank, and the rear suspension between the back of the engine/gearbox and the oil tank. It featured four twin leading shoe brakes and a girder style front suspension. The geometry worked to reduce the wheelbase under braking pushing the rider to a more upright position thus reducing the load on the arms, (typical hydraulic forks do quite the reverse) A very successful model, however only about 1700 were manufactured. I whish I had kept mine! Its production ceased in 1956, and it remained the fastest production road bike until 1972. The absolute forerunner of today’s ‘Superbikes’.
