Dogue de Bordeaux caught Cruisin' for the Ladies

844th place (joint)
We caught this big fellow - apparently out cruising for the ladies - while walking in downtown Vancouver during our 20th wedding anniversary vacation. I only had time for three shots before the stoplight changed and the car took off. Fortunately, I had my Nikon D80 ready and after making a couple of adjustments, got exactly the result I envisioned.

Taken: Friday, 10th September, 2010
Focal length: 55 mm
Shutter speed: 1/350 sec
Aperture: F5.6
ISO: 100
Notes: I had my 18-55 mm Nikkor lens on, with the camera on shutter priority mode, exposure compensation set at -.5 EV, ISO of 100, and matrix metering. After taking one quick shot to make sure I got some kind of picture, I decreased the shutter speed to get an aperture setting more in the middle of the range of my lens, where the resolution is optimum. While my initial shot was taken at more of a wide angle, this shot was at 55mm and effectively cropped the dog in the car window.
