Golden Gate Bridge Tower, 1930

Irving Morrow was hired to take the Golden Gate Bridge design beyond the merely functional, and into an art form. Morrow chose to express Art Deco styling into the towers, street lights, railings and the portals framed by the towers. (They taper as they rise, enhancing the sense of height.)
