Every year that I've shot the Blue Angels Fleet Week shows, I've tried to catch the solo plane as it did a low pass over the SF Bay. I finally got the shot in 2006. As it turned out, the pilot came in too low, earning him a reprimand from the Boss. But the resulting shot, with the heat refraction and disturbed water surface, was worth the wait. The plane is just barely subsonic at this point. Not a pretty shot, but it has all the elements I was hoping for.
