This shot was taken handheld using a 105mm macro lens combined with a Raynox DCR-250 close-up lens. I'm not sure what magnification I achieved but my guess would be something like 2:1 or possibly more. The focusing-distance was so short that the front lens was almost touching the bee. I had to hold my breath as even the tiniest movements caused the whole image to shake so much it dissapeared in the viewfinder. As if that wasn't enough, the bee was moving around the whole time so it took me 10-20 shots (with my breath held) before I finally managed to place the DOF exactly where I wanted it.
