In this flight formation the pilots of the two fighters are unable to see each other or even the other plane; trust in the other's ability to maintain the correct flight path is absolutely critical. This is the opposite of the famous TopGun salute formation where the pilots of the two fighters can each look at each other by simply looking up above the cockpits. Ellington Field, Texas.
