I had no intention to sell until the owner of a hotel saw some of my rough images and asked if he could see more. After the 1st attempt at shooting this spot I sent him a rough copy. I worked quite a bit on the 2nd version and eventually after 2+ years he asked to buy a large copy but I had never finished as the image was so complex. I replied that I was afraid he would want it and locked myself away for days until I finished. It now hangs in the front entryway of the hotel and he sells for me

Focal length: 90 mm
Shutter speed:
ISO: 200
Notes: This image is a composite of 1100 photos. It took 2 sessions of 5 hours to shoot and about 3 years of on and off work to assemble and finalize. I had flown down from Auckland and was given special access to a controlled area of forest to shoot this image but during the shoot my tripod shifted in moss. I flew back home and when I was assembling the image I noticed large areas that were absent so I had to fly back down and get permission to go in again. It is HDR and stitched and too much work.
