As soon as we stopped to look for a campsite in the Arenas Valley (near Santiago, Chile) my friend Jim, an enthusiastic rock climber, nearly lept from the truck, peeled off his boots, and started up a large boulder. I did not have much time to get my camera out, let alone think about composition, before he had scampered up to the top and over the other side.
