I found this tree spirit in Redwood National Forest near Eureka, California. Even though the top of the tree had been cut many years before, it still maintained its quiet dignity. What trickster added troll like features will never be known, however the eyes and mouth had been added many years before.The eyebrows were a more recent addition.
