The Alhambra palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was erected during the mid 14th century by the Moorish rulers of Emirate of Granada in Andalusia (southern Spain) and was extended by Emperor Charles V after the "Reconquista" in the 16th century. Beautifully situated in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, it represents the finest and most famous piece of Arabian architecture in Spain.
