Perspective: Get Down!

Compare with some other photos from this challenge, is not an impressive one.

It's something more like a kitsch. It is not "atmosphere", there is nothing special.
The boots, the girl, the railroad ... Not bad, but not excellent either.

It's getting feisty in here!

I really like this shot its just really well composed and is a very worthy winner. Congratulations Regards Tim

while i did not vote on this image nor have i ever voted on any challenge images or submitted any, i can see why this garnered low votes.

1. it's not necessarily that original of a perspective

2. it's not focused on a unique perspective, it's focused on the model. without the model, this image is very clearly not a play on perspective in my view, so is not faithful to the challenge topic.

3. a shallow depth of field with a blurred background is NOT A NEW THING by any means, nor does it really SUM UP the CONCEPT of using perspective in photography. a shallow depth of field, in my personal opinion, is not all that original of a concept when it comes to perspective. actually, it's not original at all. it's more an effect of using a telephoto lens with a wide aperture, which is more a "Telephoto/shallow depth of field" challenge.

i'm actually surprised to see that this photo won. yes, it's a great photo, but a LOT of the challenge photos have been EXTREMELY on topic when it comes to the challenges themselves. i believe it was unfair to let a pretty girl win a PERSPECTIVE challenge. there are SO MANY different things one can do with photography in regards to perspective and to say that this is the best DPReview photographers can do with perspective, is a bit off in my view.

great photo, wrong challenge. some people didn't think it was appropriate to the challenge and i can see why.

remove the model and the "perspective" is simply not there. while a smashing photo, some people voted it low because it's unoriginal and not on-topic. IT STILL WON so get over it.

Congratulations on this shot. The idea is a bit cliched but the execution is lovley. Well done.

My jaw dropped when this one opened on my screen. I've seen plenty of railroad shots, but what makes this one so remarkable is the the soft light and muted colors. Well done!
