Hiding under a rock

167th place (joint)
We don't get many reptiles here in Sweden - this was one I took last weekend - I heard this one (a grass snake) slithering amongst the leaves before I saw him - by the time I caught up with him he was all curled up under a rock. Things I've recently learnt for id'ing these - are that the grass snake typically has a whiteish head and partial stripes - the other possibility for Sweden was an adder/viper - but these have a distinct diamond pattern on their backs - and on their heads.

Notes: Hand held - I didn't like to get too close to this chap - as at the time I wasn't sure if it was a viper - which are at their most poisonous right now - or a grass snake (non poisonous). I hadn't realised grass snakes can grow so long either. Hand held.
