The host has indicated to me via a pm that compliance with the rules is not his top priority. Artistic excellence is more important in his challenges then the actual theme. That is really too bad because any of the top 12 entries were very good and deserving of the top spot.

Great shot but No parent in the picture. The theme was bird families not baby birds. It's again a wonderful picture.

I agree that it's a wonderful picture, but the host should have caught the rule violation and removed the image or gave the photographer an option to submit another entry. It's a shame voters didn't pay attention to the challenge rules either (or don't care).

PankajDubey: Ok, I believe you, but how could anyone know that was the parent? Don't get me wrong: it is really a lovely photo, but compared to other entries where the required theme of parent/chick relationship was crystal clear, I didn't think yours met the requirement.

@ Buzz- Owl parents tend to hide out somewhat with their youngsters, and it is not always easy to get them all at once. Lots of patience required. Parents sit back like this one:
