Quintessentially Home

Challenge #1 in the The Natural World Around Us series. Hosted by Entropius.
Challenge has finished
If you had to describe the natural environment around your home in one picture, what would it be? What natural scene (wildlife, landscape, plant, etc.) is iconic of your home? This can either be something your home region is famous for (cactus in my home of southern Arizona), or something that's less known but still defines the natural environment around where you live (hummingbirds, say, in Arizona). Send the world a postcard describing your home.

66th place (joint)
This photo was taken at Corson's inlet which is located in between the Ocean City NJ and Strathmere. They can usually be found burrowing out of the sand at dusk looking for a quick meal. They seem to come out of nowhere and can move at up to speeds of 10mph. They get their ghost name due to the fact they can be here one second and vanish in the next second.
