Part of The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the Rotunda was originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, and was completely rebuilt from 1964 to 1974. Inspired by Roman and ancient Greek architecture, the Palace exhibit was designed by American architect Bernard Ralph Maybeck, although all the sublime decorations and sculpture seen in this view of the Rotunda dome were constructed anew during the rebuild.
