For me, this handmade instrument from 1948, a Conn 'Naked Ladyface', has a real soul. Its body looks worned-out but its sound is amazing; still warm and a bit hazy. I can play many jazz-pieces on it by heart. But my most beloved tune is 'Pork Pie hat' written by Charles Mingus. I played the tune on the cremation of my grandfather Cor and aswell as on that of my grandmother Lies.
