Show us a great shot taken with your flash bounced off something. An explanation would be great too, no necessary. but it could help others if you did explain what / how you achieved your results. This isn't for diffuser's, bouncing off a card, or flip-it diffuser, or something like that. That is not what I am looking for in this challenge. I want a bounce off a wall, ceiling, person, mirror, etc. or a hand held diffuser is fine.

Behind The Scenes with Olga Papkovitch - Shot bounced off a white door about 12" behind me with a Canon 600 EXRTII facing backwards with the 600 diffuser flipped up. The f/4 24-70 with IS is my preference when shooting at 1/125 and below hand-held. The white door was a gift. Direct flash would never have created the warmth and isolation I wanted with roll-off

Thank you Peter. We try and teach the difference between focused and wide bounce. A simple 50watt flash can work like a studio strobe if you have a clean surface and the right distance. Best to you and thank you

How come a flash bounced off a door behind the photographer
- created so many "hot spots" on the model's face and earring
and the harsh shadows on the flowers ?

You have to focus your bounce if you want contrast or your shot can look flat. We do this so much in fashion on a part of a subject and no roll-off to the sides.

Here is my advice , if you're using Canon 600II's even more so.
1, If you want to focus your subject in bounce lift your diffuser
2, Don't use the distance/mm guide or color you normally do
3. Remeber that your 600II when turned for bounce will be set at 50mm.
4. Best to work in manual and set flash
5. I bounced off a shinney white door, Take a color check and set for that light off the door not from the flash. Always shoot RAW but best to take it right
6. I wanted the contrast and not a washed out softbox look the High-Gloss white door was a gift. Remember to adjust for the finish of the door. Flat vs. High-Gloss paint can change your highlights completely. Think of the glossy finish of a beauty dish without a diffuser I wanted the colors to pop a little more, another reason I also lifted the diffuser on the 600.
