Challenge #1 in the Story Teller series. Hosted by Anirut J.
Challenge has finished
Let your picture tell a story about a place where people go to enjoy their meals. It could be a road-side coffee shop, a cafeteria or a restaurant; a burger joint or an ice-cream parlor; a food hawker or a street food stall. Anywhere, just not at home or private parties. Key words are STORY, PLACE, ATMOSPHERE, PEOPLE, MOOD. What is it that you want to convey to the viewer. Please do not submit some 'nice looking snap shots' without a message in mind.

23rd place (joint)
I was 14, my father, Benny, was 35. He worked his five-stool lunch counter on the corner of 89th & B'way in NYC for 45 years. He was a friend and "second parent" to so many in the neighborhood.

Notes: This was my first roll of film, using my brother's camera that he bought from a pawn shop for $50. Processed the roll myself after buying a "darkroom" from a neighbor; Spiratone stainless steel tank, Federal Enlarger, trays, thongs, chemistry, all for $10. Been shooting ever since.
