The Land That Time Forgot... Challenge finished on Saturday, 27 Feb 2010 Grap your cameras and check your hardrives for this chllenge. Try and come up with a suitable image for the title. Dramatic Light: Film Noir Challenge finished on Saturday, 27 Feb 2010 Film noir usually refers to Hollywood films of the 40's and 50's that dealt with "hard-boiled" characters and featured lots of shadows. For this challenge, read up on the film noir movement and submit an appropriate image. Make it dark, make it gritty, make it heavy, cool and dramatic - and be sure to de-emphasize colors.
Winner: Water only! Well, almost... :)
Break the rules: Travel Landscape Challenge finished on Friday, 26 Feb 2010 This idea is totally stolen from a post by Thom Hogan: Break the photography rules, but make a better image by doing so. No rule of thirds? no problem. Best shot wins, but break the (composition) rules okay? Break as many composition rules as you want. Sometimes, you need to know that the rules won't work. VOTERS: Vote low for any image that has perfect rule of thirds, balance or imbalance by way of rule of thirds, etc. The more perfect the composition fits the (normal) rules, the lower you should vote.
Chrome Challenge finished on Friday, 26 Feb 2010 Remember polishing that chrome bumper that seemed to go on for ever? Driving at night and seeing the colors twist and dance across it? Little by little chrome is slipping into history... bumpers, fins, hood ornaments, motorcycles, accents....even blenders and malt mixers!...what is left is getting harder to find. Be creative...show how reflections in the chrome can change perspectives and bend reflections
Winner: “I See You”
Avatar! Challenge finished on Friday, 26 Feb 2010 Take a picture of someone that you think could be your avatar. You are allowed to use photoshop to alter the image to depict what you truly think your alter ego might look like. Do you see yourself as a deity? Go crazy with the theme. Having said that, you don't have to alter the image digitally if you don't want to. Be adventurous and innovative. For this challenge, the image must be taken AFTER the announcement date of the challenge. Note: Any complaints about the entries, must be submitted ONLY during the submission phase. Once the submission phase ends and voting starts, complaints will not be entertained.

At the marketplace Challenge finished on Thursday, 25 Feb 2010 Although many city dwellers do their shopping in a shopping mall or large supermarket, the lucky ones go shopping in the market. Life is always exciting at the marketplace. Please show us something exciting in your local city market.
Anthropomorphism Challenge finished on Thursday, 25 Feb 2010 Anthropomorphism is the attribution of uniquely human characteristics to non-human creatures and beings, natural and supernatural phenomena, material states and objects or abstract concepts. Subjects for anthropomorphism commonly include animals and plants depicted as creatures with human motivation able to reason and converse, forces of nature such as winds or the sun, components in games, unseen or unknown sources of chance. Make sure you explain (either in the title of description) what we're supposed to see.
Musical Instruments Challenge finished on Wednesday, 24 Feb 2010 Show us great photos of all kinds of musical instruments - not the player, but the instrument. Preferably no people in the shot, but I'll allow something like a guitarists hands on a guitar or a drummers foot on the pedal. Even face is ok if you're entering a flute, for example. The main subject must still be clearly the instrument. It doesn't have to be fully visible, close-ups and even macro shots are fine. One more rule: please give us as much info about the instrument as you can - not everything you know about flutes (or what ever it is) in common, but about that single flute.
