Monolithic Color: White Challenge finished on Saturday, 28 Nov 2009 Show us a color image that says "White!" Show us lots and lots of white. White on white is ideal, but make sure we can tell that it's a color image. Is your image white enough? If a viewer doesn't say "Whoa, that's really white!" then it's not white enough.
Winner: In the Studio
Sigma-Foveon: Portraits Challenge finished on Saturday, 28 Nov 2009 Show us your best portrait taken on a camera with a Foveon sensor. There are no restrictions on the type of portrait - male, female, kids, old people - anyone. The shot can be indoors, outdoors, in the studio. Formal or informal. Please read the Additional Rules. ::Most digital cameras use a Bayer sensor, which captures red, green and blue light (RGB) using a Colour Filter Array -- one colour at each photosite. The Foveon sensor captures RGB at each and every photosite. This is a very different way of capturing an image that produces pictures with great colour depth and sharpness. For more information, see: http://www.dpreview.com/learn/?/key=sensors ::

Tacky Roadside Art Challenge finished on Sunday, 22 Nov 2009 In the southern US, the term for tasteless, kitchy things is tacky. My mother would say: "Lord have mercy, would you just look at that tacky thing!" So to honor my mother's good taste, let's see some pictures of really tacky stuff you see from the highway. It's not quite the same as the cloying sentimentality of Kitsch but still related. If it's both tacky and kitchy, even better. I recommend the Florida Keys - a real goldmine for bad roadside art. One of my favorite places.
Winner: Joy Jumpers!
